“Best 2k I Ever Spent!” Waiting In Line For The Last Drink Of Summer At Surf Lodge
[All photos by ROB RICH] We’ve all been there. Especially on a Saturday night and especially at Surf Lodge. But since the end of summer arrived last weekend along with the end of Surf Lodge’s season, getting to the bar by pushing your way through 6-foot surfer dudes and groups of dancing Montaukers was totally worth the “so packed I can’t move” crowd. The Montauk chill spot was a favorite for almost everyone heading East this summer (including GofGHamptons), so appreciating every bit of time there during Labor Day weekend was a must even if that meant starting your own bar-side party during your neverending wait for a drink like this group above. They wasted no time celebrating the end of summer…

The End Of The Outdoor Concert Series At Surf Lodge: Tamarama Brings The Australian Shore To Montauk

[All photos by Rob Rich]
Surf Lodge ended their 2009 Patron Outdoor Concert Series over the Labor Day weekend with Tamarama, a New York City based duo made up of Jay G. Lyon & Nick “Pottsy” Potts along with bass player Jasper Leak and drummer Sean Dixon who brought the sounds of the Australian beaches where they grew up with them to Montauk. The crowd forgot about their end of summer woes and relaxed to the folk, rock, and reggae sounds as Tamarama took on the stage closing down the outdoor deck.

“When You Go To The Pink Elephant, Even If You Have A Good Time, You Feel Bad About It The Next Day. The Surf Lodge Doesn’t Make You Feel That Way.”

Montauk Sunsets On The Outdoor Deck At Surf Lodge With Banky Banx And Winston Irie

[All photos by R. Cole for Rob Rich]
No summer flings were needed this summer for GofGHamptons because it was love at first sight the moment we stepped on the outdoor deck at Surf Lodge for the first time in May. Since then, there’s been no other place we would rather be on a Sunday night than relaxing water-side with cocktails in hand, talent on the mic, and a Montauk sunset overhead… More »

Surf Lodge Welcomes Fall With September Sessions
[Photo via tcolla] Surf Lodge is capping off their outdoor Surf Cinema series Sunday night with an oldie, but a definite goodie. This weekend’s film was released in 2002, but still considered by some to be one of the best of its’ kind. September Sessions is a documentary created by surfer/musician Jack Johnson who followed a group of pro surfers with a camera surfing the waves of the Sumatra Islands. Sure you can watch this flick at home, but why do that when you can catch surfing legends on the outdoor big screen while lounging in the sand by the water in Montauk. More »

Hamptons Car Of The Day
[Photo via TreeHugger] We’ve spotted the Green Truck parked outside of Surf Lodge a few times offering up gourmet all-natural foods for anyone craving an organic treat in Montauk. The mean green driving machine runs on previously used vegetable oil and aims to “save the planet one meal at a time” with their menu only using certified organic ingredients that are good for you and the environment.

“Best 2k I Ever Spent!” Lee Scratch Perry Brings Huge Crowd To Surf Lodge Sundays
[All photos by R.Cole for Rob Rich] You would’ve thought it was a Saturday night at Surf Lodge as The Big Bounce took to the stage on the outdoor deck followed by reggae legend, Lee Scratch Perry. The huge crowd of Surf Lodgers filled the deck Sunday night to jam with the 73 year-old reggae star who had everyone on their feet during his late night performance. Party-goers sipped “Endless Summer” cocktails and slurped fruity Patron popsicles that we’re almost as popular as Lee Scratch Perry’s purple beard.

Peeing Instead Of Partying On The Outdoor Deck At Surf Lodge
[Photos by R. Cole for Rob Rich] We don’t condone urinating in public, but sometimes when you have to go, you have to go. This guy was apparently in one of those emergency situations when he was caught peeing outside in a sand-filled bucket on the deck of Surf Lodge. Maybe we shouldn’t assume he was peeing in the tin pail (meant for trashing cigarettes, not for filling with whiz) but judging by his stance and the laughing/pointing that occurred by his friend, we think our assumption is correct and we don’t blame him. If you’ve ever seen the lines for the girls and boys rooms at the Montauk hot spot, you might consider picking the pail over the toilet too. More »

Sunday Nights In Montauk: Surf Lodge Outdoor Concert Series Still Going Strong
[Photos by Rob Rich] Surf Lodge has been one of the best Sunday night destinations perfect for capping off your wild n’ crazy weekend in the Hamptons. Their concert series has been going strong and seems to get better with every weekend as the end of summer approaches. Last Sunday, The Big Bounce and Inner Roots took to the stage performing for the crowd of Surf Lodgers as they sipped Three Olive Vodka cocktails in between sets spun by DJ Franceso Civetta while enjoying the sunset and and kicking-back Montauk style. This weekend you’ll find Lee Scratch Perry performing on the outdoor deck Saturday night followed by Surf Lodge’s Surf Cinema screening of Blue Crush.

“Best 2k I Ever Spent!” The Sorority Tour Makes A Stop In Montauk To Say Hi To The Girls At Surf Lodge
[Bridget Gillogley, Bren, Jenna Hamel. All photos by Tony for Rob Rich] Singer/songwriter and California native Kelley James introduced a taste of his 2009 Sorority tour (not a college tour, a sorority tour, because apparently that’s how he rolls) to the outdoor stage of Surf Lodge with producer Bren during Spin Magazine and Oakley concert series also including heart throb guitarist, Timmy Curran. Needless to say, the singer/producer duo and the ladies get along…Very well. They were a hit with the female concert-goers who couldn’t get enough of the boys and their matching red T’s while they got the party started at the popular Montauk chill spot as the talented singer impressed the crowd with his energetic acoustic set.
