Photo Of The Day: The Sun Is Setting On Summer 2009

Beaches are emptying, temperatures are cooling, and roads are clearing. Those summer scarves we’ve mocked endlessly all summer are actually starting to come in handy. And we’re finding a use for all the those totes that we were given as gift bags these past few months - extra ways to transport our clothes back to the city. So is it true? Has summer really come to an end? Well, I guess technically. But for us, we’ll always have our endless summer…

Clothes Make The Beauty Queen

[Rachel Smith. Photo by R.Cole for Rob Rich]

Done right, the all-one-color look can be easy, fun and classic. It looks like Miss USA 2007, Rachel Smith, hit the nail on the head with her all-red ensemble. She wore the head-to-toe bright hue to Surf Lodge on Saturday, complete with a thick belt and a big red bangle. The color contrasted nicely with Rachel’s dark locks and her beauty queen blinding white smile. And what better backdrop for the former pageant star than a sunset at Surf Lodge? Her vintage-esque pleated dress gets our approval - and so does that winning (literally) smile. The former Miss Tennessee took a trip up East to share some fashion sensibility and enjoy some Hypnotiq at the event. Here’s one girl who looked like she was having a blast last Saturday.

Suit Up!

Tracy Feith is a Surf Lodge staple. The designer himself, his clothing, even his look-alike: they all pop up at the Montauk hot spot regularly. So when we saw this African print bikini we thought it would fit in perfect with the laid-back atmosphere of one of our favorite places. A little bit on the pricey side, what really swung us was the polka dot lining of the suit. That and the over-sized bow sold us - Tracy Feith has done it again. So even if you can no longer purchase this suit at the Tracy Feith boutique located in the Surf Lodge, we got you covered. Although we’re not sure if we recommend wearing it as your attire on a Saturday night. [Suit Up!]

Sophia Bastian Makes Her Way From Talkhouse To Surf Lodge

[Pictures by Rob Rich] Sophia Bastian is taking the East End by storm. First introduced to our boss lady in New York City, Rachelle recommended we catch a show by the “Jazz School Drop Out” when she sang at Stephen Talkhouse last Tuesday. More of a weekday crowd (ie. quiet and intimate) than we were used to from the rowdy Amagansett bar, we were able to experience her music up close and personal. And we were hooked. So of course we were elated when we heard she was singing another set just five days later at Surf LodgeMore »

A Taste Of The East End At The Annual Great Chefs Dinner

[Eric Ripert. Pictures via Wordhampton PR Inc.] What could be better than a dinner cooked by a four star chef? How about a dinner cooked by four star chefs from twelve of the best restaurants on the East End? That’s exactly what the 5th Annual Great Chefs Dinner was with guests Kelly Bensimon, Eric Fischl, April Gornik and chef Eric Ripert. The event is held every year to honor Jeff Salaway, the co-founder of Nick & Toni’s and name-sake of Hayground School’s Jeff’s Kitchen… More »

Suit Up!

We were really jealous we missed out on tie-dying with Sam Talbot and Tracy Feith at Surf Lodge last weekend. We’re sure that duo would have made the throwback to our summer camp days a tad bit more fashionable. But regardless, we’re willing to admit - here at GofG, we all love tie-dye. And apparently we aren’t the only ones. Bar Rafaeli, Sports Illustrated 2009 Cover Girl and Hurley brand ambassador, apparently agrees with us, as she sported a similar suit on the cover of the magazine this year. More »

Eavesdropping Is What Guests Do Best…

  • Since when are an XM-15 assault rifle, a shotgun, and 500 rounds of ammunition necessary to take pictures of the Air National Guard Base in the Hamptons. We always thought a disposable camera was enough… [NYP]
  • If you thought that the trapeze was for circus performers only, then think again. Celebrities such as Kelly Ripa and Neil Patrick Harris have tried the trapeze class in Bridgehampton for a good core workout [Page Six]

Eavesdropping Is What Guests Do Best…

  • After Carson’s report that Blue Parrot’s performance was to put it nicely, disappointing, it looks like she is not alone in this sentiment. Food critic, Ryan Sutton, had plenty to complain about after eating at both Surf Lodge and Blue Parrot [Bloomberg]
  • The adventures of team GOHAN frolicking around the Hamptons have ended…well at least for now. Several reports claim that Jon Gosselin has returned to Pennsylvania to finally do what a father should do and “focus on his family” [Insider]

Hamptons Van Of The Day

[Photos by ADRIEL REBOH for PMc] Separating it from traditional VW buses, this particular automobile is unique due to it’s impressive paint job. It looks like a few graffiti artists got a hold of some paint and spray cans and used this car as their canvas. We are unsure if the painted van belonged to a Surf Lodge patron or maybe it is the designated Surf Lodge mobile…It certainly should be. Hopefully we will see some more of this funk mobile driving around Montauk this summer. [Hamptons Cars] More »
