PianoFest Is Outdoor Music At Its Best

pianofestIf the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival didn’t fill your classy entertainment quota, you might want to head over to Peconic Landing (1500 Brecknock Road) for PianoFest tonight. Renowned pianist Paul Schenly and his fleet of young virtuosos will be performing ensemble and solo piano selections, and if you’ve never heard multiple pianos at once, you’d better believe it’s pretty amazing.

Plus Peconic Landing, and much of the drive to get there, is gorgeous, and the Pianofest program itself is very cool; Shenly runs a very selective sort of summer camp for budding Mozarts, giving them room, board, a stipend, daily lessons, and multiple concert opportunities. Many of the students go on to (relative) fame, winning competitions all over the world. Say you knew them when by attending tonight’s show at 7.

Sounds like a great event, alhough I must confess that I like the sound of solo rather than ensemble piano. At any rate, I’m a big fan of music camps, having worked at a number of then in the off-season.
