WESTHAMPTON
The Meat, Seafood, Buns Strip Mall In Westhampton
For everything I need outside of Quogue, I must venture into Westhampton. The best part about Westhampton? They have everything you need outside of Quogue. I especially love how the local meat market (Dean’s) is connected to the fish market (Cor-J-Seafood). Also, down from them is Bun “n” Burger”, which I haven’t been to yet, but it sounds pretty straightforward…
Welcome To The Good Life

[Family time takes precedent over all else in quaint Quogue]
Go HERE for my album from Westhampton
I’ve spoken before of the border signs at home: “Nebraska: Welcome to the good life”. Well, this is as good as it’s gotten all summer. I’m currently settling in Quogue and loving every minute of this quaint town and it’s friendly environment. I feel like I have been wrapped in a huge bubble, safe from any of the bullshit going on in the rest of the world. Last night, I ventured into Westhampton for some sushi and took loads of pictures from town. Enjoy!

Yikes, better get those lights fixed asap before people start asking what a “WestHam” is!
Stroke Your Star-Struck Putts At The Hamptons Golf Classic

Do you like your links with a side of hip-hop-heavy stardust? If you can make the trek out to Westhampton, the 4th Annual Hamptons Golf Classic is going down at the Hamptons Hills Country Club today. Registration for the tournament, which benefits the fantastic Make-A-Wish Foundation, starts at 10; the game itself will get going at 11. David Tyree’s going to be hosting, and, according to the press release, Kelsey Grammar, Russell Simmons, Lorraine Bracco, Amanda Hearst, Billy Crudup, Fat Joe, Rocco DiSpirito, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Consuelos, Stephen Baldwin, Steven Klein, Jason Binn, and Chace Crawford are expected to appear. But where is Chuck Bass? Oh.
Shopping Is Always Better When There’s A Cause
Jimmy’s in Westhampton Beach is filled with with an extremely well-curated collection of cocktail and casual attire, handbags, swimwear, and shoes, most of it by up-and-coming European designers. Today, the store’s owner Betsy Lepore is partnering with Camp Good Grief for a booze-fueled shopping extravaganza. The event runs from 4-8, and a portion of each sale will go to the the camp (which provides art therapy and counseling for children who’ve lost loved ones). Clothes+cocktails+a deserving cause sounds like plenty of impetus for a westward trek.

Annona Shares Her Harvest
Location can be misleading; when I read that the restaurant Annona was located above (and owned by) the Coachworks/MMH showroom, I imagined indifferent, overpriced eats in a faux-opulent setting. Not so, apparently. The critics from NYT, NY Mag, and Newsday are only a few of the simple Italian menu’s fans, and with dishes like wood-oven roasted octopus, wild mushroom risotto, and seared scallops with morels and sunchoke puree, I can see why. Fridays, Annona boasts live music and 2 for 1 drink specials, so if sipping a Fleur de Amore (tequila, fresh grapefruit, and elderberry liquor) while listening to acoustic guitar sounds like your idea of a happy hour, you might want to head over to Westhampton this evening.

Dan Says…
I came here with the intention of getting to know every nook and inlet of the South Fork, but I’ve yet to go further west than Quogue. Westhampton and Hampton Bays have remained intriguing but when-will-I-get-there blanks, so I’m relly grateful to Dan’s Papers for putting out this article. It’s a guide on Greater Westhampton: Hampton Bays, Quogue, East Quogue, and Westhampton, and it’s stuffed with restaurants, shops, galleries, health clubs, and more. After reading it, I’ve added Fahrenheit 451, which houses Rag and Bone, Vince, and Marc Jacobs, Tide Runners, a bar with live reggae and a view of the Shinnecock Canal, and the southwestern New Moon Cafe to my can’t-miss-list.
The Mountain Is Coming: Ray LaMontagne@WHBPAC
Ray Lamontagne is coming to Westhampton tonight! I can’t believe I didn’t find out about this sooner, but, last time I checked, tickets were still available. If you don’t have prior plans, adopt this one. Lamontagne is one of those musicians with a broad-spectrum appeal; his stuff is a mash of folk, soul, blues, and rock, and it comes across as the epitome of coffee house music. Most of the time, his voice is hushed, winsome, and kind of sea-shorey, and then it’ll suddenly boom and swoop over simple guitar licks. The sound is very lo-fi and straightforward, which usually translates into great live performances. Tonight’s show is at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center and tickets are $70, $85, and $100. I’m stuck in Boston, but allons-y-vous and tell me how it is!
