En route to Rotations to buy a bike basket, I noticed a store front with those siren words “sample sale.” One look at the deja-viewed and loved frocks in the window, and I was in. A chihuaua and racks and shelves of extremely well-curated ready-to-wear greeted me, all of it high to very high-end (Narciso Rodriguez, Alberta Feretti, Marc Jacobs, Miguelina). My heart sunk as I looked at labels, and rose once I’d checked the prices. A spring 08 DVF print dress for $90? Everything was at least 70% less than it’d be in Barneys, and everything was new. Here’s why, and why you need to get there asap: More »

An unexpected perk of rubbing elbows with the .01% is purchasing their once or never worns at tiny fractions of their original value. Based on prior experience, when Rachelle and I spotted The Bargain Basement by Colette on Southampton’s Main Street we were unsure as to what we’d find. Fear of spangled crop-tops and musty mock-turtle necks were soon absolved; the store is chock full of high end apparel, shoes, and accessories. Think Chanel resort suits, Lauren Moffat blouses, and a dizzying array of Manolos and Louis. More »
Banksy is an anonymous British graffiti artist who has parlayed his knack for in-your-face paradoxical imagery -a pigtailed girl clutching a bomb, a crucified Jesus clutching shopping bags, a pasture surrounded by caution tape, into a multimillion dollar, culturally acclaimed (and denounced) career. Often compared to Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat due to his reconfiguration of already existing images and knack for tagging public buildings, Bansky has perhaps become “the quickest growing artist… of all time.” More »
Is Dune worthy of this past weekend’s “Where It’s At” crown? The final vote has yet to be tallied, but between cheeky warbler Katy Perry, a Fergie-less but respectful Josh Duhamel, and Chris and Sasha Heinz (not to mention everyone’s favorite oil heir Brandon Davis), it seems liquid nitrogen may have been atmosphere of choice for the young and the ‘razzi ready.

It seems the socialites abounded at Nello this past Saturday. The Southampton outpost of the Madison Ave original features mediterranean cuisine, Peter Beard art, and al fresco dining for the apathetic palates of the see-and-be-scenesters.
Pros: gawking material
Cons: the gawkees, $5,000 tabs, “where’s waldo” edibles, posing, preening, waiting while one’s rover is retrieved midst a sea of its brethren, dogs in purses

This commercial building has been up for grabs in Southampton for over three years. Earth to Ralph; I smell RL Croquet potential…
