I finished my summer exactly the same way I started it: At the Social Life Estate. On Memorial Day I, like hundreds of others, skated past the super tight list and walked up the long driveway to a grand manse with the most prominently well lit step and repeat (which is straight out of Hollywood). The house was a visual delight as far as sponsors and party-goers are concerned. While all of the parties are strictly A list, a few girls dressed in their prom best always managed to get in; this of course only added to the people watching factor.
As I arrived this past Saturday night, it occurred to me that these amazing Social Life parties were like the book ends of my summer. What a successful summer it was. The first sign that I may have achieved a minor amount of recognition came when I checked in at the gates. When I used my own name (which WAS on the list), I was told that someone prior to me was using my name to try to get in. GET OUT! That was too funny. I was a little proud and no longer feel like a freshman, because of course I’ve done that in the past! Faux Doug Marshall did get in!! And the real one!

A grade A gentleman like Luigi Tadini deserves a super special birthday celebration. Though he’s nowhere close to being a Leo (he’s actually an Aries), we all missed his big 25th milestone in the spring. Sunday night’s “un-birthday” party at The Surf Lodge in Montauk more than made up for it. Besides the amazing menu courtesy of Sam Talbot, the sweet voice of Bebel Gilberto, and the picture perfect sunlight, a dozen of his closest friends were there to help him toast his Quarterlife.

Todd Rome, President of Blue Star Jets got hitched on the 21st. The wedding was at Nello’s in Southampton (talk about an expensive open bar tab!) with music by Blue Oyster Cult and Andy Hilfiger.
Chris Young, the new Izzy Gold? has some photos of the affair:

A private house in Southampton hosted Georgi’s Annual Southampton Social on Saturday. This was one of the most attractive bunches we have seen all summer. Among the Hamptons crowd celebrating were Chris George, Eliza Howard, Emily Voss, Julia Cole, Irene Yankavskaya, Nikki Breedlove, Whitney Taylor, and Lauren Borman.

Anthony Martignetti is ready to hang up his bachelor shoes for good, and he’s found a one of a kind catch to help him. That being said, his boys are not going to let him go without a fight. At the couple’s picture perfect engagement party last night (which was an intimate affair taking place at the William Wall Clubhouse on the water overlooking the city), I got quite the earful of stories from the “bachelor party to end all bachelor parties.” Apparently last weekend, Anthony’s “boys” (which include a considerable amount of havoc-causing Aussies), tore apart Montauk in their attempt to remind Anthony what he is leaving behind him.

Last Thursday night in the Hamptons The Venetian Foundation presented the Inaugural Best Buddies Hamptons Beach Bash hosted by Anne Hearst and Jay McInerney and Tatiana and Campion Platt. Best Buddies was founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, the son of Eunice Kennedy and Sargent Shriver. [NY Social Diary]

So many Lovely Leos celebrating their Birthdays this August…We were particularly impressed with the party put on by our friends Max Bonbrest and Erin Bixler (both Leo’s with birthdays a few days apart) in Max’s lovely backyard out east. Erin, an up and coming interior designer, used cinder blocks to elevate large pieces of plywood which provide the perfect table tops adorned with freshly cut peonies. The menu, compliments of resident chef Nick Richitt and grill-master Brian McGinnis, consisted of pesto pasta, grilled chicken, burgers and corn as well as homemade potato chips and parmesan truffle french fries! For dessert, mini ice cream sandwiches and watermelon were served.

At the beginning of every month out east there are two things I look forward to: The new release of Social Life Magazine AND the Issue Release Party at the Social Life Estate in Watermill. The two go together better than peanut butter and jelly. Early August was no exception as the east end jet-setters pulled themselves away from the BH Polo matches to get ready to celebrate Polo player Chris Del Gatto’s Social Life Cover at the SL Estate.
This is the one party that you always have to get to on time or you won’t be getting in. OR, you might get in but you have to worry whether your Porsche out front is getting towed. By the time I left I watched the angry cops taking pleasure in towing luxurious cars like the blue Porsche convertible that was parked next to the driveway. Ironically, the cops were not toying with the Hondas or Fords. Clearly some selective animosity there!

Claire learned early on about the prevalence of sponsors out here:
“Nearly every event and venue I’ve been to out here has been heavily sponsored, with the only variation being the degree to which the product/brand is referenced in the event and venue’s title. I suppose it doesn’t make sense to foot the bill yourself if a company will do it for you, but I can’t help feeling that what you’ve saved financially you’ve lost in class.” [Claire]
“Welcome to the PR world.” is all I could answer with. I actually understand the need for sponsors on both ends, and am completely supportive of companies that are trying to promote and sell a product (this is America after all). However, the stunts that Hpnotiq has been pulling this summer are border line overkill. Check out the latest event they sponsored: The Bridgehampton Polo match last Saturday. Was this event about the polo (or even the fashion?) nope, it seemed it was about the alcohol.
Gotta love the Hpnotiq flavored candy sugar sticks though. Genius move. Also, their good old fashioned work ethic. Hpnotiq was all over Surf Lodge the night before!

This Saturday, Pink Elephant is playing host to “A Summer Soiree” hosted by The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, Matthew Reeve & Kim Cattrall (see invitation below), however last week, the hot spot was the host for our friends over at LWALA.
Hosted by My Boy’s star Jordana Spiro, Belvedere Vodka, and fashion label Unruly Heir, this intimate evening got a little crazy later on when DJ Doug Grayson started spinning. Despite a bevy of other parties, guests like Pocket Change founder Jeremy Abelson, Unruly Heir’s Joey Goodwin (who was actually ejected from the club for being a little, umm, unruly), Kristian Laliberte, and former intern turned actor Sean Patrick Murray (dressed from head to toe in the label), enjoyed fresh lobster rolls, caviar and blinis, and other tantalizing sundries–who knew the Capri had such a good kitchen?
Meanwhile, at the bar, L.W.A.L.A. co-founder and jewerly designer Danielle Synder chatted up Doug Marshall about the annual November Gala–put on pro bono by pr firm Heir Apparent. Ms. Spiro for one, is definitely in–and urged her fellow revelers to join her.
Overall, the intimate event raised over $5,000, 100% of which goes directly to the charity.

Tonight Edgewood Goodies‘ Jake Patterson, Don Clothing’s PJ Monte, and CreateBuildDestroy’s Alex Hollender are throwing a one-night-only art show/hipster rager. The installation features work by a slew of New York’s up-and-comers: Tyler Ben-Amotz, Jesse Zorski, Eli Jager, Richie Cox, Milton De La Cruz, Soheyla Ben-Amotz, James Katsipis, and Patterson himself. In addition to crazy art, Max Barbaria and Pico Ben-Amotz will be spinning, and Lieb Cellars is stocking the bar. Stop by 307 Butter lane between 5-10 for a little inspiration/embarrassment when you realize that none of these guys are over 25.

This past Saturday was the launch party of Social Life’s August issue, featuring polo star/jeweler Chris Del Gatto. This time ’round, the police did not crash (they had a Lily Pond to clean), and Devorah and Justin’s eclectic guests were free to indulge their inner wild children. There’s always an, er, interesting crowd at Casa Social Life -socialites, aspiring socialites, actors, aspiring actors, parents of actors, grandparents of actors…

[Interviewing Lincoln Mayne and Jonathan Rojewski for Plum TV]
What’s more fun than having friends in the premium Tequila business? Nothing. A few weekends ago, at that perfectly designed Tanteo House in Bridgehampton, I had the opportunity to interview Jonathan Rojewski and Lincoln Mayne on all things Tanteo. Whether it’s a mega clam bake, a birthday party complete with famous food cart, or a Sunday Australian Burger feast, the kids running the show over at the Tanteo estate have cut no corners this summer.
They are great examples of how making it your job doing something that you love can majorly pay off. Plum TV will be featuring it on TV out east and online soon. Until then, some photos to feast your fancies:

This past Saturday Perrier-Jouet and Alice+Olivia held a private fashion show at the EMM Estate, and managed to procure occasional actress Emmy Rossum as back-up eye candy for the label’s swirly jewel-toned cocktail dresses. While I’m a bit confused as to ER’s current relevance, I totally dig her purple fitted shift. Also adorable? Model Cody Horn’s (the daughter of Warner Bros President Alan Horn and 80’s super model Cindy Horn) buttercup yellow trapeze dress.
Rachelle dubbed the hot pink version we found at TJ Maxx “cheesetastic,” but in this hue it looks really sweet, and contrasts well with Cody’s rocker-chic headband. More photos after the jump.
Confession: until the invite for Martin+Osa Celebrating Creative Time popped into our inbox, I’d never heard of Martin+Osa. Curious, I poked around the website, and was really impressed. The look is J.Crew meets Ralph Lauren Collection, (think streamlined leather motorcycle jackets and bombers, a perfect button-up pencil skirt, battered fold over clutches, crisply tailored shirtdresses) and was inspired by the globetrotting adventures and photographs of Martin and Osa Johnson.
True, the line is owned by American Eagle, but, as with A&F’s Ruehl, it has a different design team and is aimed at an older, more discerning audience. More »

“Art is total Propaganda”
Such were the words spread out like blood on the once-pristine white walls inside Robert Wilson’s main building of the Watermill Center. The prolific German artist Jonathan Meese created the installation: Marlene Dietrich in Dr. No’s Ludovico-Clinic (Dr. Baby’s Erzland). And:
“transforming Wilson’s pure design into a fantastic, ever-changing assemblage of cult, kitsch, and historical relics.” [Watermill Center]
If this party is any kind of taste into the propaganda he is describing, consider me sold. It was, by far, the most interesting party I’ve been to this summer.

This Friday was the Second Annual Help for Orphans benefit put on by Sarah Ehrlich & Real Housewife Jill Zarin at Nova’s Art Project in Watermill. And from what we heard (and saw) things got a little crazy. This was one of the first events in which all the Housewives were together (Kelly Killoren Bensimon made an appearance), and they are set to prove that they can party. After downing several of Bethenny Frankel’s “Skinny Girls’” cocktails, these ladies were ready to party for the Orphans of Kenya. Their men joined in, making this was one of the first times I’ve seen even the countesses with her hubby in tow.

VIP guests and Hamptons socials enjoyed Bombilla Iced Tea drinks at the Grey Goose Manor soiree, including Lindsay Lohan, Samantha Ronson, Annabelle Dexter Jones, Camille Guaty, Scott Sartiano, Dani Stahl, Zach Chodorow, and Kathy Ford as well as Jeff Goldstein. (Blue & Cream) who was celebrating his birthday at the affair. Samantha Ronson Dj’d at Lily Pond for the Singer 22 party after the dinner.

Those publishers over at Hamptons Magazine sure do know how to throw a party. Witness last Sunday night’s clam bake on Dune beach where the music (and alcohol) were mixing with the Clams. Someone remembered the ’smores to end the night on the sweetest of notes. THIS is what summer night parties in the Hamptons should look like:

Rory and Elie Tahari hosted a wonderful party Saturday at their East Hampton flagship store for good friend Simon Doonan who is releasing his book titled “Eccentric Glamour.” Doonan himself was there signing books as well as The Real Housewives of New York’s Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Jonathan Adler, and of course, Doonan’s pup Liberachi.
Also in attendance were Guest of a Guest friends Rob Banning (Martha Stewart media) and Scott Currie (Tahari’s PR hero). The drinks were wonderful, the clothes were stunning as always, and Lady Bunny’s energy brought in quite a crowd.
