Summer Song Of The Day: Indian Summer

Artist: The Doors

Song: Indian Summer

It was one busy, crazy weekend and we think that was the general consensus amongst everyone. We’ve decided that as the summer begins to fade, people start to pack more and more into every 48-hour jaunt they make out here. So now that Monday’s rolled around and it’s back to the grind, it’s time to chill out with a little relaxing music. More »

Sunday Nights In Montauk: Surf Lodge Outdoor Concert Series Still Going Strong

[Photos by Rob Rich] Surf Lodge has been one of the best Sunday night destinations perfect for capping off your wild n’ crazy weekend in the Hamptons. Their concert series has been going strong and seems to get better with every weekend as the end of summer approaches. Last Sunday, The Big Bounce and Inner Roots took to the stage performing for the crowd of Surf Lodgers as they sipped Three Olive Vodka cocktails in between sets spun by DJ Franceso Civetta while enjoying the sunset and and kicking-back Montauk style. This weekend you’ll find Lee Scratch Perry performing on the outdoor deck Saturday night followed by Surf Lodge’s Surf Cinema screening of Blue Crush.

Summer Song Of The Day: Sweet Disposition

Artist: The Temper Trap

Song: Sweet Disposition

Last night, we went to see 500 Days of Summer expecting to see a movie about, well, summer, but instead got a roller coaster of a love story. We’re pretty much obsessed. It was worth every penny of our $10.50 (and that doesn’t include our $5.00 diet coke - thank you, very much Easthampton movie theatre). More »

Summer Song Of The Day: Summer Lies

Artist: Magnetic Fields

Song: Summer Lies

Even if some of Magnetic Fields’ lyrics aren’t always the cheeriest, their beats are always great, and this song is no exception. On top of it, we hope that when we look back on this summer we’ll think: “we used to dance like it was going out of style”. So far, so good. More »

Summer Song Of The Day: Tropical Moonlight

Artist: Domino

Song: Tropical Moonlight

If there was ever a song that could make you want to relax with your feet in the sand under the moonlight while simultaneously making you want to dance the night away by a bonfire, this would be that tune. Domino’s soothing voice against the drum beats never made “going away from the city life” sound so good… More »

Summer Song Of The Day: Don’t Be Shy (Summertime)

Artist: Shwayze (w. Cisco Adler)

Song: Don’t Be Shy (Summertime)

In honor of Shwayze’s trip to the Hamptons this past weekend, we thought we’d bring you a song by the artist themselves. While this summery song by the band featuring the infamous Cisco Adler (remember his nude pics a few years back?…We certainly do) may not be the kind of music they were playing when the band was partying the night away at Pink Elephant and Dune on Friday night, it’s a song we’d add to our summer playlist… More »

Summer Song Of The Day: You’re So Vain

Artist: Carly Simon

Song: You’re So Vain

Fridays are good for those classic songs - you know the ones I mean. The ones that come on the radio, or on at the bar, and everyone just looks at each other and their eyes light up, because they know every word, because the lyrics are so good, and how could you not sing them? This is exactly one of those. More »

Summer Song Of The Day: First Week

Artist: Graham Colton Band

Song: First Week

Despite the lyrics of this song having to do with trying to resurrect a past love, there’s something in them that strums up feelings of hope for a new one. So while it may seem like it could lean towards the dreary side, because of this and it’s upbeat chorus, it just doesn’t allow it to. No matter where you are when in the game of love, you’ll enjoy this tune. More »

Sophia Bastian Makes Her Way From Talkhouse To Surf Lodge

[Pictures by Rob Rich] Sophia Bastian is taking the East End by storm. First introduced to our boss lady in New York City, Rachelle recommended we catch a show by the “Jazz School Drop Out” when she sang at Stephen Talkhouse last Tuesday. More of a weekday crowd (ie. quiet and intimate) than we were used to from the rowdy Amagansett bar, we were able to experience her music up close and personal. And we were hooked. So of course we were elated when we heard she was singing another set just five days later at Surf LodgeMore »

Summer Song Of The Day: Love Drunk

Artist: Boys Like Girls

Song: Love Drunk

This might not be the #1 song on everyone’s summer play list, but we got “love wasted” over this guilty pleasure the first time we heard it. The idea might seem a little far fetched but Boys Like Girls points out that if it’s possible to get drunk off of love, then it’s also possible to get hungover from love as well. This song will be perfect to listen to at the end of summer, depending on how your summer fling went this season… More »

Summer Song Of The Day: This Must Be The Place

Artist: Talking Heads

Song: This Must Be The Place

This is one song that just gets better with time. We’ve yet to meet someone who isn’t a fan of this tune. No matter what it reminds you of - friends, family, vacation, love - somewhere in there we hope it reminds you of summer. Because that seems to be the common theme with most people. And with us.
