[The official cast of "Social Heights": Timo Weiland, Annabel Vartanian, Kristian Laliberte, Kerry Cassidy, Derek Koch, Devorah Rose, Teddy John, Daniel Koch. Photos by Adriel Reboh for Patrick McMullan]
Devorah Rose’s pet project (and we’re not talking about her poodle, Princess Buttercup), a reality TV series that documents the lives of Manhattan’s bold-faced socials IS happening and currently in production. Remember the pitch? (half of Manhattan’s 20-something scenesters received it): “Like the Hills..but in Manhattan and a little older, and more mature.” Rather than the initial buzz of a series called 10021 that we all read about in Page Six Magazine months ago, the new and improved show is called Social Heights. Seems much more fitting, wouldn’t you say?
A source from Saturday’s Social Life Magazine Party dishes that Stick Figure Productions made several additions to the original cast members. The key players of Social Heights include Devorah, Teddy John (Devorah’s on and off “boyfriend”), Kristian Laliberte, Annabel Vartanian, Brianna Swanson (Devorah’s latest bff), Kerry Cassidy, Timo Weiland and a pair of twins (neither of these, though).

Sam Talbot with recent fiance Paola Guerrero. Hot Iron Chef and Surf Lodger Sam Talbot has had a pretty good summer. With his recent article in the NY Times praising his work, his new hot spot Surf Lodge continuing to gain fans, and now, his beautiful new fiance, model Paola, what more could a man ask for in life!?

The world’s tallest supermodel, Alexis Skye spent a weekend in the Hamptons last weekend and was caught enjoying herself at the Bridgehampton Polo event on Saturday, and later on at Pink Elephant nightclub at the Capri in Southampton. At 6′4″ (WOW!), Alexis is used to being looked up to. This small town beauty has recently expanded her career, making an apperance in the film, Red Fish, Blue FIsh, as well as filming some upcoming commercials. Check out her website and get to know Alexis, she’s definitely on her way up!
Today’s Fame Game Matchup is between one of my favorite Mother/Son pairs. Patty may be the reigning queen bee in the social scene (especailly out east), but it looks like her son Nick makes a fine prince. I met both of them this summer at their beautfiul home in Southampton where they were both more hosiptable than I could ever imagine!
Photo direct from our Beijing correspondents. Now if I could just get one of these in the NYC!
I have been hearing about Sir Ivan’s Castle in Watermill since the first week I ventured out here. At 15,000 square feet it has two towers with separate master suites, 10 bathroom, spa, gym, billiard and game rooms, themed guest bedrooms (Roman, Egyptian and Balinese), a Versace-inspired infinity pool, tennis courts, NBA Basketball court and sand volleyball court. Best of all? It has a MOAT complete with a drawbridge.
So just who is this Sir Ivan???
We just updated our galleries!

A Rundown of the Weekend that was:
This just in from the tip lines:
“4pm Cannonball is stopped on the tracks due to power line down. No ETA of when it will get going. Bar lines long and as well as the lou line.”

OH NO! Doug is on that train too! We received his text moments before this one….I was supposed to be meeting Douglas in Southampton at 6:00. This is not looking good:(

Today’s Fame Game Matchup is between two women with some obvious things in common. One, they are close to the same age and they are beautiful. Two, they both went through pretty horrific, public divorces. And three, they are two of our favorite Hampton locals. It looks like all the hoopla over Kelly Killoren Bensimon’s new gig as the next Real Housewife of New York has been a factor in her positive social life…
While the Hamptons is not an outdoorsy enclave à la Boulder, it is a spot best savored outside, whether on the pristine (apart from chest hair and too-tight, florescent Vilebrequins) shore, or along the enforcedly quaint village centers, with their abundance of outdoor cafés and endless opportunties for people watching. My question is, what happens when you just add water? Nobody (here) seems like the stroll-in-the-rain type -mustn’t get those K. Jacques gladiators wet! Sure, the cafes stay open, but what is there to see through streaming windowpanes? More »
There is little I dread more than phone calls. I have decidedly adverse reactions to that shrill ring -my stomach clenches, and my heart sinks as I stomp over to the console. Awkward in person, I’m much more so over the airwaves, unable to think of anything other than how much I long to hang up. When I myself have to make a call, I always pray for voicemail. Now I don’t have to pray.
The good sleuthes over at Dan’s Hamptons have discovered a free service called Slydial, which enables its users to send calls straight to voicemail. More »

[Drinking Dark and Stormys at the Yacht Club]
I took a well needed breakcation from the Hamptons this weekend to catch up with the Sailors of Newport, R.I. Here is a taste of what I learned:
Top 10 things I learned in Newport, R.I. this weekend:
10. The Folk Festival is quite the party. You missed it already but the Jazz Festival you can still catch, which I hear is equally as fun. Just take it from me…you’re better off watching from afar.
9. I hear there is a “boom boom room” downstairs at the Clark Cooke House that is apparently quite a scene.
8. The New York Yacht Club has the perfect hill for sliding down at fast speeds…
7. Real sailors drink Dark and Stormys…How to make a Dark and Stormy:
* 2 oz Gosling’s Black Seal rum,
* 3 oz Barrit’s ginger beer
* lime wedge for garnish if desired.
This week, Doug’s absolute favorite redhead talks expat country mice, motorcycles, and artistic integrity.

[I spy with my two eyes, a hat that is BLUE!]

It’s one of the biggest Polo events of the year for our friends across the water. Hundreds of Londonites make the trek to Windsor to take part in Cartier’s annual Polo event. The event draws the likes of those popular princes, along with stars like Emma Watson, Dita Von Teese, Kelly Brook, Prince Charles, and Natalie Imbruglia.
So…how does the English style match up to ours? We have loads of friends over yonder, so take a look at their photos for yourself. I think they look like pretty dapper dudes and dudettes.

The ONE Thursday I miss a taping of “The Juice” is when they decide to, not only film at my favorite place ever (The Surf Lodge), but get all the ACTION on the crazy Montauk creature that everyone has been talking about all week. Nick Leighton sat down with the girls that found the creature (Rachel Goldberg, Jenna Hewitt, and Courtney Fruin…who are, no doubt having the most exciting months of their lives) to get the facts.
Here are the Facts on the Montauk Monster:

This week seemed particularly slow no? I have been preparing for the weekend since Tuesday morning. Exciting NEWS! I will be exploring new territory this weekend as I decided to REALLY head out east…to Newport, R.I.
I am expecting quite the adventure and hoping to come back with some new tales to tell. Don’t worry though, we have several gofg’ers on the scene in the Hamptons, who will, like always be giving us the “Juice”. Whether you are heading out east, across the shore completely, or staying in the great city of Manhattan, take a hint from these beach babes, and go get some color!
It seems yesterday’s plea for the return of the Gridskipper of yore was unnecessary, though it did not fall on deaf ears. Both Lockhart Steele and Ben Leventhal assure us that “by fall you’ll see a new plan in place, featuring more of the Gridskipper you loved restored, with, perhaps, a tweaked format and plenty of new material.”
And that’s not all; it turns out that the trademark maps will soon be showing up on the rest of the Curbed network’s sites. I’m so relieved, and excited to see what the new maps (especially those on Racked) will look like!
Congrats to our favorite chef out east, Sam Talbot. He proposed to his model and t-shirt designer girlfriend Paola Guerrero at-where else-The Surf Lodge this past Friday. We unfortunately were MIA last weekend but can not wait to congratulate him in person! (And meet the lucky lady).
There will be a special photo and story in this coming week’s People Magazine about the chef and his new fiance.

This weekend went by way, WAY too fast. Though it was a rush for me, (and everyone else), to get home in the pouring rain last night, at least the water held off and waited the appropriate day so that all of us could get in our Super Saturday activities. As for me, this will be one of my more memorable of weekends this summer…
Thursday I had a chance to check out all that SCOPE Hamptons Art Fair had to offer (and it was a lot!). Plum TV was taping the Juice there and Doug and I got to play tag alongs. Friday I jammed out my posts at Java Coffee in Sag Harbor, my newest favorite coffee place on the east coast. More »
For the most part, the Hamptons have been what I’d expected, only more so. The prevalence and blatancy of sponsors, however, came as a huge surprise. Sure a Bluestar Jets Field wouldn’t garner even one eye roll were it in Vegas, or Atlantic City, but here, in what is supposed to be a bastion of all things Brahmin?
Nearly every event and venue I’ve been to out here has been heavily sponsored, with the only variation being the degree to which the product/brand is referenced in the event and venue’s title. I suppose it doesn’t make sense to foot the bill yourself if a company will do it for you, but I can’t help feeling that what you’ve saved financially you’ve lost in class. More »

Think you have to be miles away from the city to get your country club fix? Not anymore. Last night was the grand opening of the new lounge “The Country Club” in Manhattan. Designer Jeani Ziering’s vision was:
“The Rolling Stones recording an album at a traditional English Manor and the environment that would be left upon the album’s completion.”
She has done more than one private residence out in Southampton, and, judging from the details at her newest venue, Jeani’s is no virgin to the country club scene. Go HERE to read the full write up of the event….and, this fall, be content in knowing that the club-like addictions of your summer out east have a good chance of being semi-satisfied over bellinis on 14th street.
After a week’s hiatus (where were you, oh housewife?), Doug’s absolute favorite redhead ever is back with more advice on starting your own business and weekend guestiquette, plus her encounter with govna Patterson.
This past weekend, Nicky Hilton along with Mike Satsky of Greygoose Manor, Mike Heller of Talent Resources with sis Rachel Heller and Laura Katzenberg flew out in style. The V1 Jets Sea Plan leaves from nyc and arrives in 45 min out east in the hamptons. By the time you read hamptons magazine, or social life mag- you are there!! When in need of speed-

Up through this past Sunday, the only thing I associated Marshall Fields with was a somewhat frumpy, cut-rate Sundance-styled catalogue that every so often made it past our post office discard bin. Now, after visiting Caumsett, his former country estate that is now a state park, I can add gentleman farmer, huntsman, and anglophile to the reference catalogue.
Field had Caumsett built as a retreat where he could indulge in wife-free activities, but it’s no modest country cabin. Rather, the property was constructed to be entirely self sufficient, replete with its own electricity and water supply, gardens, wildstock, and dairy. Fields was also an avid sports enthusiast, and Caumsett offers stables, jogging, cross-country skiing, and cycling paths, and a beach from which one can swim and scuba dive.
Our good friend, Holly GoNightly over at BlackBook Magazine has just done a piece on their website titled “Hamptons Undercover”. She interviewed Marketing Guru, Susan Shin; Internet guru Tatiana Platt; and…me. I was the novice. Obvi. But I was still honored to be included and am, like her, excited for the Hamptons Undercover (the new exclusive website) party tonight.
Go HERE for the full interview.
My town has its own little lake, and in the summer most kids either join the swim team or take sailing lessons. As I’d done the former, yesterday’s sailing excursion out of Oyster Bay consisted of my mother manning the jib and my boyfriend, the tiller and main sail whilst I relaxed(ish, the water was rawther choppy) and soaked in the views. At Oyster Bay’s Waterfront Center, you can rent a variety of sailboats, and we chose the Rhodes 19, which comfortably held three, and might have squeezed four. So long as one sailor has an ASA certification, you can rent a boat for either the morning (8-12) or afternoon (1-5), and each session is $90. More »

[With Stephanie Wei and Nick Gregory at the Parrish Art Museum on Plum TV]
The tempuratures weren’t the only things that were soaring out east this weekend! Besides the opening weekend of Polo in Bridgehampton (more than just your average sporting event), there were nights at Surf Lodge, Plum TV shenanigans, runs on beaches, Sag Harbor treats, bonfires and LOADS of parties. From Tahari and Undercover Hamptons, to a Gossip Girl’s Bday, A Private Clubs exclusive party, and Russell Simmon’s private abode; we had GofG’s finest at them all. So, come along for the ride this week as we play show and tell from the hottest weekend of the summer (so far). It was a scorcher!
In my month and a half out here, I’ve noticed that a) my fellow Hampsters flock to causes like ants to a dropped ice cream cone, and b) especially if said causes aid and abet our furry or feathered or leathered friends. This Saturday you can “Get Wild” at the Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons‘ annual benefit, while next Saturday you may have “A Wild Night for Wildlife” in honor of the Quogue Wildlife Refuge.
It isn’t all fun and games, though. In fact, some put pets before parties. Many a firework and stretch of sand lies untouched, lest a young piping plover suffer development retardation, and in Southampton, circuses are domestic-only affairs. While most of the time I can’t help but think we ought to help out our fellow naked apes first and foremost, one tongue-lolling pant from a sea-grizzled cairn terrier is all it takes to sway my mind, at least temporarily.
Heading out East on a Friday from Penn at 3:58? You are not alone. The famed Cannonball goes express to the first stop: Westhampton and continues to the Bays, Southampton, and yada yada yada. The train is packed with mostly 20 and 30 something’s headed out to their share houses. Half the train is standing room only and if it wasn’t for the copious amounts of beer that train-goers consume, people would be a lot PISSIER.
In this week’s column, everyone’s favorite Long Islander advises on people skills, fashion, and step-parenting 101.
Here is part 2 of my mother’s North Shore must-sees, Cold Spring Harbor
By Leonie Glen
Taking route 25A, you descend down Fish Hatchery Hill and a stunning view of the harbor opens up on your left. Just don’t crane your neck too far or you will glimpse the giant sand pit that the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory has gouged into the bluff – they are geneticists, not geologists, so maybe we can forgive them for thinking they could build there! The fish hatchery is on the right across from the labs, and if you have small children, they will love it. The Laboratory also runs terrific summer programs (ponding, tidal ecology, L.I. geology, etc.) for children if you find the area irresistible.
Cold Spring Harbor was once a whaling center that rivaled Nantucket. The town is preserved in all of its quaintness, with a plethora of shoppes, and its own Whaling Museum to boot. You can lunch in town or have a picnic. More »
Commentators are a capricious breed. Some of my favorite, relatively prominent blogs -NYMag, Eater, get relatively few while others with (often far) fewer hits and links can get upwards of 200 per post. Comments, or lack thereof, aren’t necessarily proportional to readership- for example, Defamer’s piece today on the TCA had 676 views but only 2 comments.
Still, if you can cultivate a core group of commentators, what you post about can become merely a jumping off point for discussion, or, more commonly, inter-reader squabbles and potshots. Soon, you have people waiting for your next post not because of what you will say, but because of how the other commentators respond.
While the viciousness of Gawker’s group of snarkmasters (and the occasional “commentard”), are well known within the blogosphere, those over at Essentially Emily are perhaps even more tightly knit, and much more critical of the critic herself. Park Avenue Peerage’s are much the opposite; very little is directed at the site’s author, as are those of DBTH, although those that do pertain to Solish and not subject are almost always flattering. Below, a sampling of current comments. More »
Today’s matchup is between twins Samantha Ronson and Charlotte Ronson. One is the famed DJ who may or may not be hooking up with Lindsay Lohan. The other, has her own fashion line, and is many a muse.
One’s hipster and one’s prepster, but there’s no denying that both are making news these days outshining producer bro Mark.
Both can be found hoping around Beatrice and the like, but Fame Game claims that under radar Charlotte is ranked higher than her sis. Perhaps it’s because C is a more permanent fixture in NYC whereas S chills out West.
