Because c’est adorable, in an upscale but personal tropical resorty way. Because it serves straight-from-the-oven croissants and almond brioche in the early morning. Because the mimosas and mango bellinis are effervescent perfection. Because most of the ingredients on the French/New American menu are locally sourced. Because the main courses (like parmesan-encrusted Chilean sea bass and a Long Island duck magret) are called “Plats de Resistance.” Because there’s also a cheerful yellow bar, and, on Tuesdays, live music. Jody Carlson and her band go on at 8, and I hear they do a mean “Mountains of Things.” See you there!

When Paul Longo recommended Suki Zuki as one of the Hamptons’ permanently buzzing, and buzz-worthy restaurants, I was a bit taken aback. I’d biked by it during the day, and figured it was a little takeout joint, most likely expensive and, since sushi is one of the food groups of the ladies who lunchish, probably good. “We have to go,” Rachelle decided, and it turns out she, and Paul, were right. On a Sunday night, Suki Zuki was dimly lit, cozy, and filled with the chatter of the tanned and tennis-toned. Is it what you expected? Is it worth the round the clock security guards in their gas guzzling Escalades? Between the “modest” Hamptons’ house and the TJ Maxx shopping sprees by the missus, it seems that the recession is hitting even the highest of public officials. Rudolph’s place went for a cool $3,250,000 and includes a gym and cigar room.

Story to follow…

Classic.

This one is distinctly shingle-free, but I think I like it. Do you?
Gabriele is a pro polo player direct from Argentina. Claire and I got the scoop on his horses, and promise to continue to document our time with Gabriele as he shows us the ends and outs of the sport.

You may recognize Isaac Mizrahi as a fashion designer who pioneered the “luxury clothing for the masses” trend. His Design for All campaign for Target has revolutionized affordable fashion. You may not know that he lives in Bridgehampton in a three-bedroom, three-bathroom, Colonial style house. He purchased his home in 1997 for $485,000 and today it is worth just over $2 million. Looks like the value of a house on Oak Street has gone up quite a bit since the 90s. More »
