The Bridgehampton Drive-In Experience

drive inSept 26-28th is The Bridgehampton Historical Society’s Car Road Rally Weekend in and they are kicking the weekend off right with a Drive-In Movie night that Friday.  Myself, an AVID fan of the Drive In experience, I am more than disappointed that I will be away for this event (please do these earlier in the summer next year??)  Bring your Vintage Car for free admission and popcorn around 7:30. Oh and  make sure to RSVP as space is limited!

Another Hamptons staple ended last weekend, as the Hampton Classic finished with Grand Prix Sunday. Sybil and David Yurman, long-time sponsors, hosted luncheon, as Kirsten Coe, pictured above, placed third in the main event that day.  Guests included Richard Johnson and Sessa von Richthoven, Hayley and Jason Binn, Ivana Trump, Beth Ostrosky, Judith and Rudy Giuliani, Silvano and Marisa Acocella Marchetto, Peggy Siegal, Kelly Ripa, Debbie Bancroft, Bettina Zilkha, and Richard Evans.

Live From The Hampton Library

bridgehampton libraryI know, I am pretty cool. Thanks be to the tipster who informed me of BHamp library’s free wifi. This library sprawls about its small, well-landscaped lot, and it has squashy armchairs inhabited by dozing, horn-rimmed elderly. I haven’t had time to check out the selection yet, but I’m definitely digging the slightly fusty vibe, and the fact that, apart from yours truly’s, there is not an electronic device to be seen.

Plus the yard has a nearly full bike-rack, and three of the bikes have wicker baskets. Where did they get them??? And why did I forget my camera?  Anyway, Rachelle and I testing out the beds at Surf Lodge tonight, but from here on out, this libary’s going to be my office. If you’re bored, feel free to come say hello!

Lovely. This makes me feel doze-off-in-a-sunlit-hammocky.

Jill Zarin’s Pearls Of Wisdom

ask jillThis week the red-headed RHONY dishes on Governors, Gin Lane, and more online dating…

  • One of the benefits of buying on Gin Lane is the entertaining value of reciprocating and building your network.
  • When we left [the Land Rover Event] we were presented with a photo album with our picture already in it. Now that was class.
  • Sleep and try to wake up naturally. If you need an alarm to wake up go to bed earlier until you figure out how to wake up without an alarm
  • My staple advice is to continue Internet dating.
  • If someone says they have someone in mind, follow up until you get that date.
  • Please don’t think being a tourist is a bad thing!
  • Meeting people is easy. Making friends is a longer process.

This Saturday, the American Heart Association hosted its 12th annual Heart of the Hamptons gala at the Hayground school in Bridgehampton. Local honoree, Christie Brinkley looked fabulous despite the personal heartache she has been under lately. Above she poses with Alexa Ray Joel.

Hamptons Car Of The Day

vintage convertible

Show off your old school soul with this rat pack era ride. I love the racing stripes, and the fact that it most likely gets more than 12 mpg!

Why You Shouldn’t Miss Wolffer’s Twilight Thursdays

vineyards at the wolffer estate1) Wolffer’s vineyards are always gorgeous in the summer, but give them a little sunset backdrop and bamn! instant romantic photo-up.

2) There’s live jazz; and jazz always gets better with wine

3) The wines, or at least most of them, are really good, I think (I don’t really know wine. at all).

4) There’s free cheese.

5) Actually, the whole shebang is free AND there’s no reservations necessary. See you there!

The Bridgehampton Auto Show

The 2008 Bridgehampton Auto Show

This weekend, I had a chance to check out the cool mobiles at the Bridgehampton auto show at the Hayground school. The event makes me want to open a drive in theater now more than ever! (Another lofty dream of mine along with an adult sized playground that also serves as a top notch restuarant). Anyone out there want to be my investor? Click below for more photos:

Loaves And Fishes Isn’t Just For Wishes

loaves and fishes sagaponackThough Loaves and Fishes is perhaps most famous for its $100/lb lobster salad, I can’t hate it, or even scoff at it. For one thing, it has a terrific, if ironic name (methinks the original loaves and fishes were gratis), and for another, the quality is really high (especially in that lobster salad, which is made daily from Montauk lobsters). Plus the modest white shop, perched on the corner of Sagg Main and 27, is just too cute. Apart from the sticker shock, Loaves and Fishes is a very welcoming, homey place, overflowing with picnic-primed goodies. If you’re watching your wallet, I’d suggest going for some of the cheaper items (fresh baked rustic boules, all sorts of cheeses, charcuterie, savory and sweet tarts), and hitting the obliging staff up for samples of the rest.

House Of The Day

Plum TV studio in Bridghampton

Today’s house of the day is the brand new (and gorgeous) house that plays host to Plum TV’s broadcasts. Claire and I have had the tour, and it’s a keeper!
