SINGLE Threat’s IT List
When you know that you are about to spend your summer weekends running all over the east end of Long Island covering the hottest events and happenings, packing for the summer is no small feat. This is GO TIME. I have to set up my GofG AMAGANSETT OUTPOST. Therefore, I have spent the last month cultivating what I feel is the perfect summer wardrobe: choice items of clothing, skincare, make up, jewelry, accessories, bags and shoes to help me keep up with the fast-paced chic of Long Island’s own Monte Carlo – Los Hamptons.
While most can pack a t-shirt, jeans, bathing suit and Havaianas to relax in for the weekend – I’ll actually be working. It’s not just my job to play ‘I Spy’ with the who’s who set on the social register and rush home to write about it – it’s really my job to look good while doing it. I consider REPORTING while LOOKING GOOD to be party camouflage – I blend in with the social landscape while watching your every move and calculating my next one.
Here is SINGLE threat’s Packing Roster for Summer Look ‘08:

Gofg’s Hamptons Share House of the Day
If our Memorial Day weekend agenda has had you knashing your teeth in a jealous rage; we have a solution. One generous (or desperate) Amagansett proprietor has two rooms left at $250 and is willing to haggle! The house is by the beach and only two minutes from the Talkhouse (where Sexton is playing!). Click here if interested.

Bringing Out The Beast In Us: Martin Sexton @ Stephen Talkhouse
It’s only Wednesday and already our Saturday is crammed with festivities (more on those to follow), but we kind of wished it wasn’t when we heard Martin Sexton will be at the Stephen Talkhouse. For those who haven’t heard of him, Sexton’s got this terrific, husky drawl, with just a bit of twangy juice. His songs fall somewhere between folk, alt-country, and rock -think Lyle Lovett meets James Taylor meets James Brown.

Happy Never After In The (Amagansett) Market Place?
That white people love farmers markets is indisputable. They are also, we’re told, pretty big fans of the Hamptons, so the news that the Struk family’s beloved Amagansett Farmers Market will not be open by Memorial Day weekend must come as a real blow. The market will reopen again, thanks to a generous donation by Amagansett resident Margaret de Cuevas. Cuevas bought the property for $5.4 milllion, and is bequeathing development rights to the town and the market building itself to the Peconic Land Trust. Still, four-way contracts can take ages to hammer out -and in the meantime, who will make our muffins and sell our summer cookout fixings?

SINGLE Threat Gears Up For Season Opener With A Little Elbow Grease
While you are all preparing to see super glam shots on Guest of a Guest Hamptons of all the preppy preppies hopping from tented parties to polo fields to beach cabanas – I want to show you the softer (less glam) side of Los Hamptons. Every year before I load up the ‘Amagansett Outpost’ (aka my parents’ digs) with fun friends each weekend to sloth around the east end, there is a LOT of work to be done. In the beginning of every May I am emailed a bulleted list by my dad of chores that need to be done to get the house up and running for the summer season (true story). This is never a matter to be taken lightly. I often spend two weekends prior to Memorial Day doing yard work and getting everything in tip top working order.
On several occasions I have brought friends to help – you know who you are and you definitely know I’m not kidding! I’ve bartered with friends to rake some leaves to stay a couple weekends in the summer. It actually works. All of this is in preparation of the BIG Season Opener (MEMORIAL DAY) –

The Wafel Man Cometh! Wafel & Dinges Joins Surf Shack

Because we are an equal-opportunity site, and because we know some of you frankly don’t give a damn about sat fats or simple carbs, we would like to broadcast the second coming of Manhattan’s beloved Wafels & Dinges truck. Wafel & Dinges is a mustard-colored manifestation of Thomas DeGeest’s love of his homeland, Belgium, and its waffles. Starting May 23rd, the sprightly yellow vehicle will be parked outside Alex Gordon’s (Bourbon St.) new seafood and burger joint, Surf Shack.
