| Description | Enjoy an afternoon of strolling the gardens while viewing LongHouse’s newest sculptures. The April to May daffodil display is exquisite including more than 200 cultivars in a variety of settings. This season, LongHouse Reserve (LHR) is excited to introduce a number of new sculptures including fellow East Ender Eric Fischl’s Tumbling Woman which was commissioned to commemorate those who lost their lives at the World Trade Center on 9/11. It was deemed controversial and withdrawn after being installed along a Rockefeller Center concourse. In LHR’s garden, it will be seen under different circumstances. Visitors will discover four of Gonzalo Fonseca’s sculptures which are developed from marble, travertine, limestone and brownstone. LongHouse will reinstall Magdalena Abakanwicz’s two figures which will once again graze across Peter’s Pond. Celebrated kinetic sculpture and contemporary artist George Rickey’s sculptures will entice visitors to study the simplicity and scale of their moving parts. Artist Johnny Swings is known to LHR visitors for his collection of seating that uses a variety of coins, quarters, nickels, and half-dollars. Finally Mia Westerlund Roosen’s water feature of stucco and running water invites the viewer inside to sit and listen as water cascades through the sculpture from above.
