Scuttlebutt Update: The Second Coming Of Gridskipper
It seems yesterday’s plea for the return of the Gridskipper of yore was unnecessary, though it did not fall on deaf ears. Both Lockhart Steele and Ben Leventhal assure us that “by fall you’ll see a new plan in place, featuring more of the Gridskipper you loved restored, with, perhaps, a tweaked format and plenty of new material.”
And that’s not all; it turns out that the trademark maps will soon be showing up on the rest of the Curbed network’s sites. I’m so relieved, and excited to see what the new maps (especially those on Racked) will look like!

Normally the last place you would EVER think to bring a toddler or a youngster is to the VIP tent at the Mercedes-Benz Bridgehampton Polo Challenge. (Unless the VIPs themselves were the kids.) History was made this past weekend on the Blue Star Jets field as Stride Rite sponsored the FIRST EVER “Kids Day” at Bridgehampton Polo Club. What did this entail? Kristin Cavalari hosted the festivities with Games from Space Odyssey USA- Family Entertainment Center, Balloons in the shapes of animals and FREE shoes! That’s right, Collections by Stride Rite had a table for kids to design their own pair of Stide Rites under the tent as adults downed mini bottles of Perrier-Jouët or Hpnotiq Bubbles n’ Blue cocktails. Clearly, treats for everyone as we watched Team Pony Express face off with Team Black Watch.

Borghese And Sang Lee Show You How To Lunch
Lunches tend to be rushed affairs, takeout from the deli down the block or a container of last night’s lasagna wolfed over one’s computer. Ann Marie Borghese of Castello di Borghese vineyards and Karen Lee of Sang Lee Farms wish it weren’t so, and are offering a combination cooking/wine pairing class that just may convert you to the glory of the leisurely dejeuner.

LABL Brings Us Trip Patterson’s Edgewood Goodies
When I first saw samples from Trip Patterson’s tee-shirt line, Edgewood Goodies, I was reminded of House of Holland and the cover of Everything Is Illuminated. Looping, graffitiesque neon logos over supersaturated cotton made for an eye-catching, and fairly original presentation, a gleeful mix of surfer and hip-hop aesthetics. And now, what I thought was cool to begin with just got a lot cooler, for Trip has teamed up with Sag Harbor’s fashion/art collective LABL to produce a line of organic Pima cotton tees. More »

Grandmaster Flash Brings His Turntable To The Talkhouse
Grandmaster Flash is generally considered to be one of the founding fathers of hip-hop, and with good reason. Cutting, scratching, using an electronic beat box, sampling… all were techniques he either invented or perfected. He and his bandmates who comprised Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were the self-titled first MC’s, responsible for the inception and flourishing of rap music through songs like “Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel,” “Superrappin’”, and “The Message.”
In March of 2007, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and this past year Flash put out a memoir, My Life, My Beats. Old-schoolers and anyone who curses hip-hop’s current state should catch the fascinating pioneer at the Talkhouse tonight at 10. Click here to buy tickets.

Sam Talbot Engaged To Paola Guerrero!
Congrats to our favorite chef out east, Sam Talbot. He proposed to his model and t-shirt designer girlfriend Paola Guerrero at-where else-The Surf Lodge this past Friday. We unfortunately were MIA last weekend but can not wait to congratulate him in person! (And meet the lucky lady).
There will be a special photo and story in this coming week’s People Magazine about the chef and his new fiance.
