This week seemed particularly slow no? I have been preparing for the weekend since Tuesday morning. Exciting NEWS! I will be exploring new territory this weekend as I decided to REALLY head out east…to Newport, R.I.
I am expecting quite the adventure and hoping to come back with some new tales to tell. Don’t worry though, we have several gofg’ers on the scene in the Hamptons, who will, like always be giving us the “Juice”. Whether you are heading out east, across the shore completely, or staying in the great city of Manhattan, take a hint from these beach babes, and go get some color!
Okay so I thought I’d make it through the week without having to post on that strange creature that has washed up on the shores of Montauk….you know the one that EVERYONE’s been talking about. What is it? Real or photoshopped? Sea turtle without shell? Skinned Racoon? Mutated dog from a lab off the coasts? Well, quite frankly I AM starting to care about getting to the bottom of this mess…if only so I don’t ever have to stare at that disgusting photo again! (If you have been living in a hole and care to see the thing go HERE, you can even vote on what you think it is…WHAT FUN!)
Ah we may NEVER actually know the answer to this mystery. Sometimes the throw up of the sea can be strange indeed. Reminds me of this post from last year (see photo above). This poor guy got beached around Quogue….sad story for sure, but at least we could IDENTIFY the creature that time!

ShopBop swears this Fabucci “James Bond” bikini is “provocative, glamorous, and incredibly flattering too.” I think it’s Halloween trashtastic. Bring on the imitation Walter PPK and a white pleather holster!

The first time I was served quail, I remember protesting that it was too cute to eat. Then I ate one. Or three. More flavorful than chicken, juicier than turkey, less gamy than duck… basically pure bliss on two teeny legs. Until now though, I’d considered it winter food, but then yesterday I stumbled across this recipe onKei Keiko Oikawa’s gorgeous travel/food blog Nordljus, in which the quail is marinated and grilled.
Kieko uses a ridged pan, but an outdoor grill will work beautifully, so long as you mind it. If you feel like you’ve been stuck in a grilled chicken rut, or want to surprise your guest the next time you throw a bbq, these should do the trick. More »
As mentioned yesterday, the french sportswear line Vicomte Arthur, Lacoste’s chicer, more streamlined, and much younger counterpart, is coming to Jobs Lane sometime this August. In 2005, 23 year-old Arthur de Soultrait was asked to design ties for the “Paris 2012 Olympics” delegation, and these ties gave birth to what is now a wildly popular brand with boutiques in Paris, Barcelona, Nantucket, San Tropez, Palm Beach, and now Southampton. If the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival didn’t fill your classy entertainment quota, you might want to head over to Peconic Landing (1500 Brecknock Road) for PianoFest tonight. Renowned pianist Paul Schenly and his fleet of young virtuosos will be performing ensemble and solo piano selections, and if you’ve never heard multiple pianos at once, you’d better believe it’s pretty amazing.
Plus Peconic Landing, and much of the drive to get there, is gorgeous, and the Pianofest program itself is very cool; Shenly runs a very selective sort of summer camp for budding Mozarts, giving them room, board, a stipend, daily lessons, and multiple concert opportunities. Many of the students go on to (relative) fame, winning competitions all over the world. Say you knew them when by attending tonight’s show at 7.
